Their heart-warming journey makes CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG a fun-filled hit for all the family.

The Vivienne

Everyone at Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is deeply saddened by the passing of James Lee Williams, professionally known as The Vivienne.  Their incredible and brilliant talent shone through in their portrayal of The Childcatcher. They were an integral part of our company and will be missed immensely.

James as The Vivienne is perhaps best known for being crowned the first ever winner of RuPaul's Drag Race UK in 2019 and subsequently appeared in the seventh season of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars. They were also a finalist in Dancing on Ice, and appeared in Emmerdale and Absolutely Fabulous the movie, during their successful career as a performer and comedian.

James first role in theatre was the Wicked Witch of the West in the UK tour and West End run of The Wizard of Oz.  Most recently, they played the role of The Childcatcher in this tour of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

James found their home in musical theatre and bought their considerable talent, intelligence and wit to their work, immediately becoming a much-loved member of the Chitty cast.  Hugely popular with audiences across the UK, and performing to critical acclaim too; there is no doubt they had a promising future as an actor.

A life cut tragically short. Rest in power.
